Summary: Everything you paste into CompareLists stays on your computer. We do not have user accounts, and we do not have a database to store your lists.

1. Your Lists and Data

When you paste text or drop a file into CompareLists, the diff calculation happens locally on your machine via JavaScript. Nothing is sent over the internet to our servers. Once you close the tab or click "Clear All", that data is discarded from memory.

2. Browser Storage (localStorage)

We use localStorage for two simple things: remembering whether you prefer dark or light mode, and keeping your current input text so an accidental page refresh does not wipe out your work.

This data stays on your device only. You can reset it anytime by clicking Clear All or clearing your browser cookies.

3. Visitor Analytics

We use Google Analytics (gtag.js) to view aggregate numbers like total visitors, general country locations, and device types. This helps us spot browser bugs and keep things working properly.

Google Analytics uses standard cookies for this purpose. It has no access to what you paste or compare, and we do not connect visitor counts to personal identities.

4. Server Access Logs

The hosting provider keeps standard web server logs including IP addresses and request timestamps to protect the site from abuse and monitor uptime.
